Back to the World of SEO and the Blog
Sorry for the lack of updates over the last couple of weeks; I’ve just moved and I’m sure you know how annoying that can be. As is to be expected, Google decides to have a really busy few weeks while I can’t quite justify the time to sit in front of a computer and write about SEO when there are piles of boxes everywhere.
First, there was the +1 update which seems to have come and gone pretty quickly; I’m not sure if they were running a test or something but I’ve not seen it in UK SERPS yet whether I’m logged in or not and I’ve not heard much about it after the first couple of days in the US. It’ll certainly be interesting to see what happens if Google does roll it out worldwide though.
Then they rolled out the Panda/ Farmer update into UK results and it seems like a lot more people were hit with it this time. Not only is it going after “content farms” and poor quality article directories but also voucher codes sites and ones with a lot of ads on them. It’s been so mad here, I’ve not managed to check my positions but I don’t think this one’s been hit with them – it shouldn’t be, what with that tiny no-revenue-generating bit of AdSense on it. Actually, while I think about it, do me a favour and click one of them, will you? Cheers.
There’s also the impending release of Google Offers to talk about – looks like if Google don’t get what they want (Groupon in this case), they make their own. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with that.
More posts soon, I promise. They might even be proper ones.
